The almond tree is native to South Asia and the Middle East, and produces a seed that is called the almond. Although it is commonly referred to as a nut, the almond is the stone-like seed found within the fruit of the almond tree. The almond tree is a deciduous tree that can grow as tall as 33 feet. Although the almond tree is native to Mediterranean climates it is now grown in North America as well.
